Arachnophobia and Spider Control

As a victim of Arachnophobia for most of my life, I can attest to the fact that spiders are scary creatures with their eight pairs of eyes and the way they can sneak up on you. In order to continue my work, where I came face to face with spiders including the Black Widow, I had to learn about them. I found that spiders are not that big of a threat in North America, and even less of a threat in Arizona.

brown_spider_01When I first moved to Florida, I was terrified that I would face some of the big house spiders that were common in the 60′s when I visited my Grandparents. What I noticed was that their numbers had dwindled due to a construction boom. Those furry things don’t really want to be around people, but they are hunters. Wherever there are homes, there will be food for spiders.

Spiders love to eat other insects; they trap them and literally such the life out of them. If you have other insects around or in your home, you will have spiders that hunt them. Spiders love dark quiet places, such as basements or the back corner of a closet, where they will be undisturbed. If you make a habit of cleaning the hidden corners of your ceilings and floors, you are less likely to find spiders there. Most Arachnids like places that are free of activity, so their egg sacs will be left undisturbed.

Spider Control in Phoenix

The biggest fear in Phoenix is all of the pest control companies claiming to have rid families of the dreaded Brown Recluse. HereBrown Recluse Diagram are the facts. The Arizona Recluse spider is not as toxic as the Brown Recluse. There are no documented cases of Brown Recluse sightings in Phoenix. If anyone does find a Brown Recluse, like the ones identified in California, they have been brought with the victim from their home in Mississippi or Alabama. The spider people think is a brown recluse may be a Green Recluse, or a Brown Arizona Spider. The Brown Recluse has 6 pair of eyes arranged in a circle, rather than the usual eight pair. I do not recommend trying to identify spiders; just call for removal.
